How to Configure "CounterMail" for Third-Party Apps?

Step 1: Get Your IMAP/SMTP Authentication Keys

1) Login to your CounterMail account at countermail.com

2) Go to Settings → Preferences → Security & Keys

3) Click “Show IMAP/SMTP Keys” and enter your account password

4) Choose and copy the appropriate key:

  • Cram-MD5 Key (32 characters): Use with email apps that support encrypted auth (e.g., Apple Mail, Thunderbird)
  • Plain IMAP Key (64 characters): Use with apps that do not support Cram-MD5 (e.g., Outlook)

5) Avoid copying any extra spaces before or after the key

6) This key will act as your “password” when setting up IMAP/SMTP in any email client

Step 2: Configure Regzion or Third-Party Email Client

1) Open Regzion Software or any other IMAP-compatible client

2) Enter the following settings:

  • IMAP Server: imap1.countermail.com
  • IMAP Port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
  • SMTP Server: imap1.countermail.com
  • SMTP Port: 465 (SSL/TLS)
  • Username: Your full email (e.g., yourname@countermail.com)
  • Password: Paste the IMAP/SMTP key from Step 1

3) Save and test the configuration
